Easy to get started

I needed a place to host a simple website and heard about OVHcloud US. Their Public Cloud looked pretty good. Getting it set up was surprisingly easy, even for me who isn't super techy. Everything just kinda worked, you know? The interface felt pretty straightforward. Happy with how it's running now.

Solid service, minor hiccup

I ordered an Eco Server for a development environment. The setup process was mostly smooth, but it took a little longer than I expected, around 48 hours to get fully provisioned. Once it was up, performance has been reliable, and the Anti-DDoS protection is a good plus. Their support response time was decent when I had a question about IP allocation. Overall, a good experience for the price, but provisioning could be a touch quicker.

Great value for a dedicated server

I was looking for a dedicated server solution and checked out a few providers. OVHcloud US had a pretty sweet deal on an Advance Server, especially with the annual commitment discount. I saved a decent chunk compared to other places I looked at. The server got provisioned in about a day and has been running smoothly. Definitely felt like I got my money's worth, the price for the specs was really competitive.

My new favorite cloud provider!

I am so impressed with OVHcloud US! I got one of their Managed Kubernetes Service clusters, and it's just amazing. The documentation was super helpful, and I had my applications deployed in no time. The control panel is intuitive, and the performance is seriously top-notch for what I'm paying. I'm definitely going to recommend them to all my friends and colleagues. Can't wait to try out their AI Notebooks next!

Signed up for a VPS. Setup was fast. Performance has been solid for my small project. No complaints so far with the service.

Just got my OVHcloud US dedicated server provisioned. Setup was faster than I expected, around 3 hours from order to ready. Pretty happy with that.

A Amit88 1 month ago
3 hours is pretty decent! I remember waiting almost a full business day for my first VPS from them a few years back. They've definitely improved provisioning times.

Good to know. I'm thinking of moving some services over.

Could be dependent on datacenter load too, I guess?
3
T TechRaj 1 month ago
Yeah, I was actually expecting closer to 6-8 hours based on some older forum posts I read.

Oh, nice! Which server type did you go for? I'm looking at their Advance or Scale series for a new project.

V VikramG 1 month ago
That's quick. Last time I ordered a server from another provider it took almost a day.

I got one of the Advance servers, the ADV-3. Wanted something with good all-around performance without breaking the bank.

Which datacenter did your server end up in? I'm always curious about their US locations and latency.

T TechRaj 1 month ago
It's in their Hillsboro, Oregon facility. Latency has been good so far to my location on the west coast.

Following this, looking for a good west coast option.

Hey guys, thinking about getting a dedicated server from OVHCloud US. How long does it actually take to get it up and running after you pay? Need something relatively quick.

R Raj Patel 2 months ago
It's usually pretty fast for the standard ones. I got a Rise server provisioned in like an hour or two last time.

M Megan 1 month ago
Depends on the server config I think. Some of the more custom ones or high-end stuff might take a bit longer, but for a basic Advance or Scale server, it's usually within a few hours from my experience. Not instant like a VPS but not days either.

Trying to pick between OVHCloud US and Hetzner for a new project. Anyone have experience with both, especially on the dedicated server side? How do they stack up?

R Rachel 1 month ago
Hetzner is often cheaper raw price, but OVHCloud US includes DDoS protection standard and their network performance is generally really solid. Depends on your budget vs. features need.

I've used both. OVHCloud US support feels a bit more structured if you need it, and I like their vRack option for private networking between servers. Hetzner's good for bare bones value though.

any dedicated server setup fee waivers going on right now? or is that usually just a Black Friday thing?

C Colin 2 months ago
Sometimes they pop up outside of BF/CM, but it's more common during those big sales events. Keep an eye on their dedicated server section, they usually announce it there.

I've seen setup fee waivers as part of their annual commitment deals sometimes, not just seasonal. Like if you sign up for a year, the fee is gone. Check the details on the server you're looking at.

Does OVHCloud US ever do free credits for new customers? Saw some mentions about it, wondering if it's still a thing or just old deals.

D David L. 2 months ago
Yeah, they usually have some kind of new customer credit. I got like $100-200 in public cloud credits when I signed up a few months back. Applied automatically.

Check their promotions page, or sometimes if you sign up for their newsletter. It's often around for new sign-ups, like a welcome bonus.

My OVHcloud US public cloud bill jumped quite a bit this month. I thought I was on the free tier for most things, but apparently not. Anyone else had unexpected charges?

S SoftwareDev 3 weeks ago
Sometimes new services or features get enabled by accident if you're clicking around. Did you try contacting support? They can usually break down the charges more clearly.

Good luck! Hope it's an easy fix.

Support can be hit or miss sometimes, but for billing they're usually pretty helpful.

Not yet, wanted to see if anyone else had common pitfalls first. I'll open a ticket if I can't figure it out from the console.

I had a similar issue last quarter. Turned out I forgot to delete a snapshot for a VM I wasn't using anymore. That storage cost kept accumulating. Check your object and block storage snapshots.
0
M Maya_Tech 3 weeks ago
Oh, good point! I did create a few snapshots when I was testing some deployments. Will check that right away.

R RahulK 3 weeks ago
Snapshots are sneaky like that.

C CloudGuru 3 weeks ago
Definitely double-check your resource usage. The public cloud free tier usually has limits on vCPUs, RAM, and storage. It's easy to go slightly over without realizing it, especially with egress traffic.

A AnkitM 3 weeks ago
Egress traffic always gets me. It adds up fast.
5
M Maya_Tech 3 weeks ago
Yeah, I'm digging through the usage reports now. It's not as intuitive as I'd hoped.

What kind of payment options do they have? Can I use PayPal or is it just credit cards?

I Ivy T. 1 month ago
I'm pretty sure they take PayPal, that's what I've used before. And credit cards of course.
2
M Mark Walsh 1 month ago
Yeah, CC and PayPal are definitely options. Not sure about crypto or anything super niche like that though.
